Committee on University Service
Policy Statement
Committee Charge
The Committee on University Service is a Standing Committee of The University of Texas at Dallas appointed by the President.
The Committee is charged with preparing nominations to the President of the faculty membership of University Committees. The Committee, with administrative support from the Office of the Provost, collects and reviews nominations of faculty members submitted by university leadership, including deans and vice presidents, and self-nominations. The Committee members are charged with aligning faculty nominations with each committee's membership requirements. The faculty nominations are reviewed by the UT Dallas Presidential Faculty Advisory Council (PFAC). The President appoints the members of University Committees.
Membership
The Provost prepares nominations to the President for the Committee on University Service and the members shall be appointed from June 1 to May 31. The Committee membership consists of one faculty member from each of the seven schools and two representatives from the PFAC. The Chair shall be selected from among the representatives from the PFAC. Committee members shall serve staggered two-year terms. Members may be reappointed by the President for additional terms upon nomination by the Provost. If for any reason a Committee member resigns or is unable to serve, the President, upon nomination by the Provost, shall appoint another individual to serve the remainder of the unexpired term.
The Chief Academic Officer serves as the Responsible University Official.
Reporting Requirement
No later than August 31 each year, the Chair of the Committee provides the President with a written report of the Committee's activities for the prior academic year.
